With the 3-in-1 system, the jacket will be ideal in cold conditions (down to -10°C) as well as for warm weather travel.
Indeed, you can leave the inner layer at home and carry the rain jacket only. You can also use the inner padded jacket on its own, as an intermediate layer over a T-shirt and jumper.

A durable jacket thanks to its good abrasion resistance…

We test our fabrics in the laboratory based on various criteria including abrasion resistance.
To replicate the friction caused by the backpack straps, we perform a standardised Martindale test which involves rubbing the material of the jacket against another abrasive material. The aim is to measure the point at which the product starts to become worn & the pilling begins. The jacket easily passed the test reaching 20,000 cycles, which is above the average for the other jackets on the market.

… as well as good tear resistance

The jacket was also subjected to single rip tearing tests. The aim is to reproduce in a laboratory the effect of your jacket snagging on something outdoors and being ripped.
Using this test protocol, we check that the fabric doesn’t rip any further after a hole is made in the fabric, so that it can still protect you for years to come.

The advantages of a duck down and feather filling

The swelling capacity of the down gives it 3 important qualities during your travels:
– Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers
– Ultra low weight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack
– Ultra-compressible

How to measure the fill power of a down and feather wadding?

The fill power is a measure of the down’s thermal insulation capacity and its potential to “trap” air. It is expressed in CUIN (cubic inches).
So, down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation.
For this inner jacket, the fill power is guaranteed to be greater than or equal to 660 CUIN (European standard).

Thanks to our traceability system, we can guarantee the origin of the feathers in accordance with our commitment to use responsible materials. Our suppliers are committed to only using down from ducks reared for their meat and plucked after slaughtering.

WATERPROOFING OF THE COMPONENTS OF THIS JACKET

The waterproofing of a fabric by a coating or a membrane is measured in Schmerbers or H20 mm (pressure of a water column). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric.

WATERPROOFNESS OF THIS JACKET

The waterproofness of a jacket isn’t limited to that of its components: the assembly technique of the different parts is also an evaluation criterion.

Whether heat-sealed or sewn then waterproofed, the overall waterproofness of your jacket is measured using a shower test developed by Decathlon, which simulates rain of different intensities.

As such, the TRAVEL 900 COMPACT waterproof jacket protects you from a storm, i.e. 30 cm of rain in 3 hours.
