Quechua Kids’ Waterproof Hiking Salopettes – Aged 2-6

Component waterproofing

This garment has been subjected to a shower test using 60 litres of water/sqm/hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower in the mountains.
A component with a 5,000 mm rating can withstand the pressure of a 5,000 mm column of water (which is equivalent to a 2-hour-long rain shower).
Waterproofing is expressed in schmerbers (for example: 5 000 schmerbers).

Component breathability

To assess the breathability of the fabric, the evaporative resistance, RET (test based on the ISO 11092 standard), is measured. The lower the fabric’s resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity evaporates, and the higher the fabric’s breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 920 = little or no breathability.

COMPONENT DURABILITY

We conduct numerous laboratory tests to validate the highest standards in terms of durability: a resistance test to abrasion and friction to ensure that the fleece does not pill, a colour fastness test to check the behaviour and resistance of the colours and an ageing test to check that repeated washing does not alter the properties of the fabric, its behaviour, its thickness or its appearance.

OUR COMMITMENT TO CONSUME LESS WATER WITH THIS PRODUCT

Textile dyeing requires a lot of water but also produces waste water from the dye baths. To reduce our impact on the environment, we choose this method of dyeing in the mass (DOPE DYE), by integrating the colour pigments right from the manufacture of the yarn.
